The urogynaecology clinic was established in our Department since March 1998. Women with lower urinary tract symptoms including urinary incontinence can be referred to this clinic for assessment. Moreover, women with the main complaint of pelvic organ prolapse with or without urinary tract symptoms can also be referred. The clinic is run in the afternoon on Wednesday and in the morning on Thursday at the outpatient department in Tsan Yuk Hospital. For women requiring urodynamic study, this will be performed in our urodynamic investigation room located in Tsan Yuk Hospital. We have a dedicated and trained nursing staff to perform the procedure. Management of pelvic floor disorders will be discussed with the woman after assessment. We do encourage and support non-surgical treatment for women suffering from urinary incontinence who are keen to adopt this form of management. We have an experienced physiotherapist at Tsan Yuk Hospital who provides a comprehensive pelvic muscle training program. Surgery for management of stress incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse will be discussed and offered if this form of treatment is indicated. Our team is currently also seeing women with urinary and/or prolapse condition who are referred to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on the Eastern side of Hong Kong Island. The clinic is run in the morning of each Wednesday. Urodynamic study will be performed there if indicated.
Referral can be made directly to the urogynaecology clinic at Queen Mary Hospital or Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. A referral letter from a medical practitioner or physiotherapist is necessary. |
